 Post subject: C18det engine wiring

I have a datsun1600 putting a c18det engine in it has the standard engine wiring loom and ecu what parts off this loom do I strip out such as the abs and will the ecu still work without

Did the engine come from an S14?
Here is the schematic for an S14 which may help you decide what wires are surplus: -

I'm not sure what it came out of it came with my car but it is the red top motor I'm new to these engines as I always used L series in the past

It won't be from an S14, they were all SR.

It will almost certainly be from an S13 so you need that wiring diagram.

Then just wire up what you need, and tape up what you don't. Once it's iriving and doing everything you want then you're safe to chop out all those taped-up wires. Can always do that straight away, but it's just a safety thing as it's easier to chop later, than 'unchop' if you hacked stuff you didnt need to.
