Any help identifying this gearbox would be greatly appreciated.

It's a standard pattern 5spd (i.e. non-dogleg).

And would anyone have any thoughts on why it keeps blowing the seals out out of the speedo drive?

Could it be from a build up of pressure in the box? Is it supposed to have a breather (I can't seem to find one on it)?

Anyway, thanks in advance.

Pat

The extension housing looks to be the later type as fitted to the 200B: -

The vent is circled in red.
Only a guess but I think the 'box is a FS5W63A

The NMCA is Nissan motor company australia.
Its a bluey box.

Are you refering to the pinion shaft seal or the drive cable seal?

Ie, have you removed the pinion housing, pinion, & replaced the seal?

Thanks for the replies guys.

I bought a complete replacement speedo drive.

So, it was all brand new. It lasted for about 2 hours of driving blowing again.

I got back under the car and looked/felt for a breather all along the top of the box from the bell-housing to the extension-housing. I couldn't find anything.

Going by that exploded image, I'm beginning to think that the breather on my box has been blocked off with the a bolt (as marked below).

Does that sound logical/feasible?

...and thanks again (heaps) for the help.

Don't be removing any bolts from the transmission :tsktsk:
There is either a little metal tube meant to provide the venting or a plastic tube like what is fitted to the differential: -

Thanks Graeme.

Even pulling out part of the trans tunnel so I can see (almost all) of the top of the box, I still can't see any type of breather (or even where one could/should have been).

So, do you have any suggestions on how I might be able to vent the box?

That bolt is in the centre of sandwhich plate, thats not it, if it is a bluebird box look on other side and further back for a small hole where plastic tube used to be.

Redrill hole and tap with thread and screw in fitting for a small plastic hose that runs across top for venting.

Okay. Time to get back under the car and see if I can improvise something like a breather.

Next question, any idea of where I can get a seal kit for the speedo drive?

Thanks again.

You should be able to just use an o ring on thestreet drive. I do from a pack I got at as $2 shop lol. No,issues here.
Once you gave a breather most likely, there won't be a pressure build up internally that keeps blowing your Speedo drive seals imho
