Did a supersprint in the 1600 a few weeks ago and brakes felt awesome, however the next day when I tried to roll the car in the garage I couldnt move it. Finally got around to pulling the wheels off yesterday and found the rear brakes were siezed. Had to lever the calipers off the rotors.
Pads appear to be cooked (Dont know what they were, came from maddat) and the rotors have colouring to suggest they got a bit hot. I dont have a straight edge but they dont look to be massively warped...

Is it just a matter of getting the rotors machined and sticking new pads in it? I dont really understand how they have siezed...

best to probaly rebuild the calipers to be sure as well as machining the disc's and new pads then you know its all alright.
What rear brakes ...? if they Are R31 check the hand brake lever is not stuck on

yep r31, haven't checked the handbrake but did notice that the handbrake lever (in car) took about half as many clicks as usual before I couldnt pull it any more...

Sounds like somebody fitted new pads and forgot to readjust the handbrake?????

now pull apart calipers and put in new seals, machine rotors & look for major stress cracks, replace fluid and obviously new pads.

New pads came with calipers, they were fitted at the same time and the handbrake was adjusted then. Will get the calipers checked and rotors machined (they dont have any visible cracks but have colouring to suggest they got quite hot). Have ordered new pads from QFM as I suspect the crap pads were the cause of the problem.

Look on the R31 forum. apparently the rear calipers are 'self adjusting' or something, like they gradually get tighter as the pads wear???

cool so it seems unless you find something else you need to get hold of some much better pads.

out of curiosity what did the front brakes look like could possibly be carrying too much rear brake?

Yep just got an invoice for some QFM DS2500 equivilent pads for front and back. I havent looked at the front yet but bias felt good on the track, never locked the rears (although never locked fronts either). The way the event was run there was only 200m cool-down before entering pit lane so that couldnt have helped...

MAG86 wins the prize! Handbrake had overadjusted itself. New (2nd hand) pads and loosen off the handbrake and it was good to go :)
