I am no rebuilding expert - but I think thumbs are a good ring expanding tool. Slip them over with your hands, just be gentle with them.

I'll sell you one for $64 FREE SHIPPING :giggle: :giggle: :giggle:

Seriously, if you can't find a Piston ring expander for $5 I'll , I'll, I'll......
In the past I have used a set of expanding Circlip pliers, but a set of El Cheapo Ring Expanders is all you need.

Compactor, ring compressor, who cares, you know what you mean!

Dont forget to soak the pistons in oil, make sure the rings are lined up properly on the piston, and most of all, tap the fuc^$ng things into the bores gently.

If you feel any resistance, stop immediately, remove the piston (and ring compressor) and start again.

Lesson learnt from bitter experience, tapped/hammered  piston in too hard and broke a compression ring.

Good luck.

Thanks mate. Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong. Im yanking the stuffed L16 out of the Stanza in a fortnight to nab bits of it for this motor so hopefully i dont break anything there either. :)
