I remember a mate had an old beaten-up volksy ute. Had a g-meter, and gave it a whirl.

0.7g

i.e. you go a certain speed and then just smash the brakes as hard as possible

Whats involved

you mark a line on the road. you drive up to it at 35km/h. then you brake. then you measure how far from the line you ended up. then you use v^2 = u^2 + 2as, and bob's your mother's brother.

ADR brake test.
15 consecutive stops from 60K with 5 sec heat soak
followed by one hard stop from 100K
followed by 110k stop.
this is when the Gs & pedal pressure are taken
when the brakes are stinking.
280mm 4 spots 0.96G with std pads
296mm 4 spots 1.06 with std pads.
R31 single 0.69 with std pads
these would be much better when cold or with harder pads.
So taking Gs on one stop means :?:

how would they eb able to do that everywhere?

the closest 110K zone to the main test centre is 20k's away if not more, how do people get around that?

my understanding is that a 1600 is pre-ADR 31, hence Table LG1 applies, not Table LG2:

http://www.dotars.gov.au/transport/safe ... eb2006.pdf

i'm going to see the bloke at licensing technical section tomorrow to make sure i've done all the right tests.

and,
http://www.movit.de/rahmen/stoptbl.htm

thanks i'm over it

The spec I posted is what is needed in SA
Testing is done at AIR, mainly for SR etc conversions.

understand WA is much easier.
Still it is a good test to Quote results

Is this test done with 100% accel back up to 60kmh?

I know here in vic we do the same test. I know of a ca18det 1200 which passed this test with STOCK 1200 disc/drum combo! Key is decent pads and new fluid.

I reckon my Datsport 280mm 4 spots are pulling a lot more than .96g. I get red outs (opposite to blackouts) similar to a fighter pilot doing outside loops when I stop.

They are fantastic. Thanks baz for such a quality product.

Its nice to see people actually care if their car stops lately

Its not all about bulk HP

Better the brakes........ longer the straights !!

Thanks Dave.
They do pull more than 0.96G, but thats not when they are stinking hot.
then again tyre & road surface comes in to it as well
