can BOV's be mounted in any position?

i want to mount mine sideways on the intake pipe.

Define sideways? Their orientation makes no different, but the direction they face the flow does. Most mount perpendicular (not the best for flow) without any problems. If your BOV is pushing the small side to vent the amount of air you require during gear changes, you might need to mount it so the air from the intake pipe can better flow into and out of the BOV.

As I understand it anyway.
