had a look in my trusty Gregory's manual and it said that the rear stuble axle nut had to be torqued up to 33 kgm !!! is that right? my cheapy torque wrench only goes up to 20 kgm

Yep, its somewhere around the 250ft/lb mark.....

I usually do them up to 180ft/lb (all my wrench goes to), and then get the biggest breaker bar I can find and do a little more. Make sure you crimp the new nuts back on and you shouldnt have a problem.
