at a 6500rpm redline in 5th gear, using an FJ20 box, running thru a 3.9:1 R180, on 195/50R15 tyres you'll be doing 217km/h

for anyone who's interested.......

Now work out mine

205/60/13
6000 rpm
5th gear .86:1
Diff ratio 4.4:1

Thats how fast I am going down the hill into the last corner at Wannaroo before I dip the clutch and try to brake.

My FJ20T use to do 180+ in 3rd. Had the dial well past 120mph mark in 5th, straight down the guage for that matter. I estimate in the vicinity of 210-220 and it was only doing between 5500 & 6000 tops. Honestly, 1600's don't feel right over 200km. All in controlled environment though.

Best bit was the poor HSV sh*box couldn't get past 190 up the hill, poor $60,000 V8 driver

I've also heard it's possible to get from start of the F3 (Wahroonga) to Toronto (Newcastlish) in 40mins, though that's just what I heard.

i don't own an fj20t.

neil, you'd be doing 165km/h

apparently tyre height of 205/60R13 is 21.74in

http://www.spitfireguy.com/tire_size.htm

6000 / 60 / 4.4 / 0.86 * 21.74 * 0.0254 * PI * 3.6

Neil,
I get 172 km/h, a bit more optimistic than guppy's estimate :D

from this useful (but unfortunatley vdub oriented) site:
http://www.customspeedparts.de/content/ ... chnung.php

And what do you mean "try and brake" ........ aint that supposed to be your specialty?:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Hmmm I think I go with Guppy ..... 102.5 MPH in the old money.

6000*60 mins* (21.74 *pi) inches /.86/4.4 /63360 (inches in a mile) = 102.5 MPH

yes... I didn't factorise for clarity!

MR1600 if we go conservative and say 210kmh (130MPH) and assume top gear is .86 then that would give you a 2.6 diff

Cheers, Neil.

Yes braking is my speciality.... trust me.... the car has no trouble pulling up

I find it funny that I was passing much faster cars that claim to have higher speeds and lots more HP

On well... we're going back to the 4.11's for Collie to see how that goes.

can i ask a stupid question and ask what is a 2.6 diff

(obviously a ratio)

What does the 2.6 mean

MR 1600:

sure you can, cause I made assumptions about your gerabox and wheel diameter!!

A 2.6 diff (if one existed!) would be one where the pinion rotated 2.6 times for 1 rev of the crown wheel. This is extremely 'tall' - it doesnt reduce the revs of the input shaft much. The tallest ratio diff for a datto I know of is a 3.54. It seems a bit unlikely that you could be doing 210kmh without revving the guts out of your engine ..... 4500rpm seems very low for that speed.

Cheers, Neil.

2.6 was an option on A9X
Litre8 (SLR8000) runs a 2.5:1 http://www.litre8.com/
Common Holden one is 3.08

Lots of ratios about if you look hard enough
