Post subject:  180B SSS boot lock rubber seal

Hey guys,

Upon removing my boot lock the seal has disintegrated in pieces and Im not sure what to do... Are these still available for purchase???

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution ?? Im worried if I install the lock without the seal it wont fit correctly and having the car newly painted I don't want to go through a trail and error process installing and removing the lock. Are the sedan boot lock seals the same? are they available?

Thanks in advance

I made a few seals for hinges and locks out of some 1.5mm sheet I found at Clark Rubber.
These were for my '65 Fairlady.
If it is a basic doughnut shape, easy to reproduce from stock

I think 1.5mm is the thinnest they stock.
You can get it off a roll of say 50mm wide, sold by the metre or part thereof.
Dirt cheap really.
Alternatively, go to a Wrecker/Dismantler and remove some Nissan/Datsun locks and see what the gasket is like.
Trouble is, there all getting old and brittle aren't they?

How many pieces did it brake into?

If you can roughly stick it back together and scan it I should be able to cut you one at work.

Hey Guys thanks for you input,

SSSBEE, Im not sure of the state of it but I will look for it as it may have been left at the panel beaters.

Im currently talking with DATMAN UK and he seems to think he may have it new with the lock... If I fail I will be sure to contact you

Cheers

Hey SSSBEE,

Your help would be appreciated... I cant get my hands on it, as I don't know where its disappeared to. I have a feeling the panel beater threw it out :S
