Nice work Aaron! Are they the standard SSS dash lights or are you retrofitting LEDs? Remember you'll need the charge light for the alternator to work properly. What carpet kit is that, knox?

Na they are LED's. The SSS dash didnt come with any of the lights unfortunately. I tried to get the most subtle non ricer spec lights i could find.
I have a red LED for the alt charge. Can anyone tell me where this light is usually located on the gauge cluster??

IIRC when using an LED for the charge light you need to do something to alter the amount of current (resistor?) to make sure it does what it needs to do, something to look into.

Thanks for letting me know that bro!
See you can post informative information in the build thread!!!

On another note..... Picked up my new daily the other day
2013 MK6 GTI with DSG.
Upgraded from my MK4 GTI which was starting to die.
I gotta say.... I am bloody loving this car. So tight, smooth and comfy, yet sporty enough to keep a smile on my face.
And the DSG.... is LOTS of fun!!!

From memory, you need to add a resistor across the terminals of the Charge Light. As in Positive to Negative. But Baz is the one to talk to about that? I'm not 100% sure.
I ran all green LED's on my VDO gauges to mimic original Datsun Green.
You might also want to put a big resistor in line with that high beam light, because blue lights are really bright at night and that one will basically blind you when you put your high beams on.

Nice car, I'm on my 5th one now :) Having owned both types I prefer the GTI over the R.

Cheers,

Trent

Sorry boys...... Been a little busy lately doing house renovations, getting ready for my little daughter who is due in 3 weeks, so the garage is chocka full of crap, so the Datto is feeling a little neglected!!
But..... good news....... Renos are done and im cleaning the garage as we speak.
Things to get stuck into are:
Finish wiring up everything
Finish laying the carpet (Halfway there)
Purchase new turbs

also been working on my brothers 68 Datto. Just finished the engine install. He is going some old school flavour with a L20, big cam, bigger valves etc, twin webbers. So that is coming along nicely. Ill post up some pics of his build shortly.

Hey Aaron did you end up doing any more work to your gauges, like the speedo sensor?
