Before i pull the door apart i thought i would ask.
I drove my car to work for the first time today (getting rego today)
went to lock the door, and the key wouldn't lock it, it's worked in the past (last time i used it was over a year ago)

is there something simple i can do to get it working again? i imagine it's just gotten stuck somehow....
would a squirt of wd40 inside the lock help it usually or do i need to use a dry lube like graphite powder?

Currently I've locked the passenger door but left the drivers door unlocked - luckily it's a private car park and people are generally pretty respectful.

Thanks :)

Will it lock from the inside?
Does the key turn at all?

Graphite powder works really well in locks.

wait if you can lock the drivers door from the inside wouldnt if have been smart to go in the passenger door, lock drivers door from the inside then get out and lock passenger door?

work is pretty secure so i didn't bother investigating.
drivers door locks from inside only
passenger inside and out, so i'll be locking it on the passenger side for now.
I'll try and get some graphite powder and give it a go :)

Does it feel like a seized lock in the barrel (use graphite), or a bent or broken connection between the barrel and the striker?

If the latter, remove the inner trim and have a look. Pretty simple mechanical linkages in there. Could be bent linkage or dislocated from its connection with the barrel.

There is a small rod that is hooked on to the lock arm that can pop off and from memory there is also a rod that is adustable which you can play with.

I had a bent rod from the barrel to the lock thing which stopped my lock from operating with the key. inside lock worked normaly.

straightened out the rod and all good.
