Only suit cars that have full jdm spec.

Or the standard squarish ones on granny stockers.

I have the square fender ones and they are awesome in everyway, including good visibility...they even show the blind spots at the same time as showing a small part of the car! awesome!

yay!

get decent spring base ones and you're set.
depending on your datsun you may already have the holes there for a set of fender mirrors, so no holed required.
I've got DR30 ones
they are also electric :P

a lot easier to use because you don't need to look out your side windows, rear vision is right in front of you.
decent jap mirrors will have a slightly curved mirror surface for blind spot elimination too.

if you don't have factory holes, then you don't need to modify too much, see this thread for installation tips:

I reckon they are actually better for normal driving, because as Burubado said, the mirrors are right in front of you, and they also cover your blind spot better. Does take a bit of getting used to though!

The one area I find where they are not as good as regular mirrors is when you're reverse parking. With normal mirrors you can kinda crane your neck and see down to the kerb, so you can see how close your wheel is, or say if you are reversing close to a pillar. With the fender mirrors it isn't as easy to gauge how close you are to a pillar/kerb/other car, I reckon.

I found you become a "head check" master.

I've had two different pairs on mine, the first were small and round, and I couldn't see much out of them - they needed to be convex. The newer set are a bit bigger and squarer, and they're far better. I still do regular head checks though. And I aim the passenger mirror at my rear wheel so that I can see how close it is to the gutter for parking purposes.

that many headchecks that you look like the excorsist?
should really be looking infront when driving ;)
haha Im noting the jdm fanboys getting upset about theyre mirrors, yeah they can look cool, but are rubbish to see out of, esp if you have poor eyesight (like me)
please note im talking about 510/zed 'bullit' mirrors, not ones that resemble the size of my laptop screen.

nascar...

japs use broadway mirrors like this:

do the same thing essentially but don't render your visors useless.
they are brilliant, you can see everything out of a small mirror.

you can see in the first image i posted of my car that the mirror isn't much bigger than the factory one it clips on to.

I don't quite like the 510 bullet fender mirrors except for their look though I do have about 10 pairs of them in various conditions :Þ)
For visibility I prefer B210 fender mirrors, they're so much better ,cos of the bigger mirrors.
I've used B210 mirrors on both B210 and B310 and the viewing area is excellent.
Don't look quite right on a 510 though and are much harder to find.

Having said that I've used 510 bullet mirrors on a B210 for a while (for the look) and gotten use to it in no time. Harder to adjust for optimum viewing.
