Post subject:  What flare angle on brake lines.

I cant work out weather im suppose to be doing a 37 or 45 degree flare on the brake lines im doing and the work shop manual dosent say anything. Anyone know what is used more commonly?

they need to be a double flare. different models had different flares.

45 for Jap and many modern cars. 37 for older American and some older euro stuff.

Yes. And make sure that they're double flared.

Yeah i knew they had to be double flare just my flare kit has dies for 37 and 45 degreee dobble flares as well as the bubble flares and wasnt sure which dobble flare to use. Im using 45 degree now however after talking to the guy at superstop where i got the tool as well as some braided lines, he said he didnt know what angle it would be but that it wouldnt matter cos they crush out anyway :shock: The 37 degree flares i did have not had any leaking issues yet so i guess ill only redo them if i have problems

They do crush out. The only thing is, the distribution blocks that you'll be using have a raised section that you screw down onto, that the flare mates to. So you'll want to get them as close as you can.
