Thanks. I'll flick him an email. Any numbers or anything to back up this FLAMINGO ORANGE claim?

I once had a factory red SSS (until it got stolen) that I had resprayed in the original colour. When I had the painter order the paint from the original code label, the paint supply told him that it was called 'Flamingo Orange'.

I might still have a tin with the paint code on it hiding in my shed.

Other than that you'll have to take my word for it.

Anyone know the paint code for the original burnt orange on a 180B SSS ?

Looks very similar (same ?) to paint code "918 - Orange" off "Z" cars.

*edit*
turns out my car's a 1969 monaro gts colour, not the factory orange.
probably explains why it's so bright.
I got hold of a guy who knows the painter...
seems like they were trying to bogan it up.
Now i'm doing the opposite :D

A paint place will be able to match it if you take off the petrol filler door and take it down to them.

Would anyone be able to help for the Original "Kings Red" colour code 1600's used to come out in? I'm battling the dodgy scan and multitude of red colours on the Dime Quarterly colour page to be able to distinguish A) differences in red colours bar a slight shade, and B) the actual colour name and code.
I have a picture of a car, but not the actual code for the "Kings Red" Colour.

Any help appreciated.

i was looking at oranges for the 16 and i had some sample pots made up of Vermillion Fire (XY GTHO), Hugger Orange (1971 Camaro), and Mikan Orange (Datsun 1600), and seriously, painting them next to each other, the difference is so slight it's, well, hard to tell. i can see some difference, but not a lot.. over a whole car it may look different, but in the scheme of things, it's pretty much the same.

RJB510, i say, find a colour that you really like and go with it regardless of history, unless of course, you're going for the Concourse Trophy. I went for a 2005-current VW colour. It stood out as a colour i really liked every time I walked past the cars in our lot, and it wasn't the car, it was the colour.

Hey Red, You're 100% right, and that's basically what i've done. But just in case my wallet doesn't like the cost of Red 2pack paint (as opposed to say blue which is considerably cheaper) and being a group 3 colour at that. Its always nice to have a backup plan. Cheers
