Been meaning to throw up some pics of Dad's car for some time, but recently (last week) we fitted up some new shoes which really made it worthy even more. Thanks to some inspiration (guinea pigging) by SIX-TEN, we've purchased and fitted up some Silver XXR/Sportmax 513 model in 15x8+0 offset. Tyres are same size as SIX-TEN's too, fitting some Kuhmo Ecsta KU31's in 195/50R15 for that perfect amount of JDM stretch.

Some shots of the exterior with the new rims fitted:

And some of the engine and interior:

I also made a couple of blog posts about it on my SILLBEER blog:

Next is to get the suspension sorted.

Cheers
Brendan

If this gets the attention to detail your Silvia does, then it will be a very worthwhile thread to follow, although it's already a very neat car

Personal preference of mine, but i think it would look a million times better without the side protective strip

Sorry to disappoint, but this isn't a new build of mine. It's Dad's daily, and I'll leave him to work on it.

The possibility of another build for myself is on the backburner for the time being. I'm now self employed, so until I know how well that's going to travel, all the toys sort of need to be kept to a minimum. So instead I'll spend the old mans dosh instead ;)

Wow nice SSS!

I'm glad I'm some sort of inspiration to other Satto owners out there and to those "I told you so"

many said "oh 195s wont work" but they're perfect tyre and wheel fitment on a 180B, 'm loving the style you guys picked too which I had contemplated but didn't know what they would have looked on my car so I stuck to the 002s.

does your old man have further plans for the B?

@SIX-TEN:
Not really. Just to get the suspension sorted and keep it clean and tidy. He's just had a bit of rust taken out from the boot lip and chassis rails. Last year it had a full respray...but like most cars of the era, it's a never ending race to keep up with the rust. He may look at a slightly larger exhaust and a set of extractors, but finding a set of headers these days is getting harder and harder (Genie don't make them any more).

Cheers
Brendan

Yeah tell me about body work mate, mine has some of the repair coming back up and the paint was never spot on when I first had it done so I've been thinking on doing a double take from the inside out while I'm working on my EFI Turbo stuff I may as well star with the engine bay.

Parts are getting harder to find that's for sure, problem is that the L20 extractors will fit but foul on the let hand side outer tie rod and also sit lower since the L20 is a taller engine but don't give up; there is always someone out there with bits lying around.

Suspension wise don't go too sick, simple lowered springs and shocks would be suficient but steering wise go for it and do the bushes as well, he will love it once all of that has been done.

I've been looking at buying a SSS shell, needs some work but now seeing your dad's SSS I want it more, I guess once I'm finished with the sedan I can move onto the SSS which I've always said tomy self that if I do I wont modify it but we shall see how we go lol

Hahaha, yeah. Once you're bit, it's hard not to do a tweak here and a tweak there.

As for suspension, we're going to go simple with some adjustable bushes thrown in. Also may look into the K-Mac Front Castor/Camber tops as well. Should help in tucking the tops of the fronts in nicely.

Yeah tell me about it lol

with the rears if you don't wanna go over budget get that Nolathane kit which are rear trailing arm bushes which have the holes on an offset, pretty easy to adjust from what I've heard, with the front you can get away with the K-mac stuff, I have noticed that if I want to go lower with these wheels I have to dial in lots more neg camber or lip the guards, these wheels are a tight fit on the front but arent too bad on the rear unless you dump it on it's guts like I have and end up with only less than an inch to dial some + camber.

OK, cool. I know K-Mac make an adjustable bush kit for the rear trailing arms as well. So we'll see what the suspension place says when they do the once over. The rear won't be dropped too much more than where it's at now anyway. But the front is 4wd spec at the moment.
