All Vic datsun people are encouraged to attend a motorkhana event with the Skylines Australia (SAU) car club, february 28th 2009.

[ img ][ img ]

Basically at an SAU DECA event, there is heaps of fun to be had for ANYONE in ANY CAR. A standard car with low power or a high hp big $$ car will be perfectly acceptable. You don't need a fast car to have fun! There are reguarly about 3-5 datsuns that attend this event along with all sorts of other makes/models, but more dattos would be even better.
If your half keen on having some tyre spinning but legal fun without the risk of any high speed accidents, then read on..

What is it?: Typically a motorkhana is a series of time trials on a combination of courses set out with witches hats on either dirt or bitumen. With an SAU DECA motorkhana we use the entire concrete skidpan at the DECA training facility so the different 'maps' or 'courses' we use generally have a good mix of tight hairpin and darty type corners to long slidey/drift style corners. ALSO, accompanying the skidpan events is two seperate road sections that are set up as time trials using the roads towards the back of the DECA facility. They are both relatively short hillclimb style blasts and are a heap of fun also. Passengers (with helmets) are allowed in cars whilst on the skidpan, so if you've ever wanted to scare the sh*t out of a friend or relative then bring them along :)

Where?: DECA - Shepparton, 145 Wanganui Road, Shepparton, VIC 3630. (approx 1.5 to 2.5 hrs drive) *Most people usually make a weekend out of it and stay the saturday night for some drinks and to unwind before heading home on Sunday. Cheap accommodation may still be available, PM me if interested.
Cost?: $75
Max Entries?: 50 plus reserves.

Licences?: To enter you will need to have ONE of the following-
(a) a AASA licence. This licence is available on the day for $50 and allows you to compete in any AASA governed event. A AASA licence is valid for one year.
(b) a CAMS licence. To obtain a CAMS licence you need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated car club. CAMS licences can be obtained on the day for those that wish to join SAU. The costs involved are $70 for the SAU licence and around $95 for the CAMS licence. Both licences are valid for 1 year and SAU membership renewal is only $50.
If you are planning on possibly doing any track days in the future then a CAMS licence is recommended. For those just looking to have fun at DECA, an AASA licence will suffice.

-= PLEASE NOTE =-
The insurer of the event (AASA) has issued supplimentary regulations that require all entrants to wear helmets during all competition. This includes the skidpan and all battles.
This also impacts passengers, as they must also now wear a helmet prior to entering a competition vehicle.
A fire extinguisher is required by all entrants. This is for your own safety.
Please re-read the supplimentary regulations before entering the event.

As the photo would suggest i have been to an SAU run DECA before and they are great fun! easy on your car, you get to learn a hell of a lot about your car and you get to meet lots of new people. its good for spectators, you can ride in anyones car that lets you and its cheap!

plus its time some datsuns got out of the garage and onto the track, this is the perfect entry!

I thought i'd add a few vids of the deca just gone so that people can see what the skidpan is all about. Sliding around basically!
The skidpan is only half the day at DECA but i don't have any vids of the tracks to show.
Hopefully some more datto's will be keen on the MAY deca.

*Welds diff in RX-7 in preparation for next event*

That looks like a lot of fun. What do they put down on track to ease sliding?

Also, you will shortly have a PM
