Hey All been slowly tinkering away over the last 6 months , was really crook up until nov and employment dramas killed alot of $$ availible for the car
First off I had a few dramas with my old crow cam (was bigger than a 76 deg) resulted in a purchase and fitment of a new wade 72deg cam refaced rockers and lashpads , then I removed pacemaker headers and replaced with factory setup feeding into the exsisting tailpipe and resulted in it being bit quieter , alot less bay heat and ofcourse better low end torque. Just need to get the factory front pipe remade as I did a patch job on an old one with my oxy to get it road going.
Ive spent hours and days double checking the cam timing and playing with ign timing to get it to run/idle half decent , running a stock elec dissy for now without vac advance as the cam was causing it issue with the map load being low and erratic. now running around 14-15deg @1100-1200 idle
I have also tried a few different heat shield/filter/trumpet setups and have settled on a basic home made metal airbox , I felt 50mm inlets without filter would be a bit much for a tame L16 not to mention inlet temps I was getting
I bought some cheap bike filters and the rubber mounts for them have 50mm to connect to the TB's but the other end is around 40mm and nice restriction . tried the filters with a shield below and still got to much heat and scratched that. I made a box up as best I could with tools at hand and used the mounts to hold it to the Tb's. Put a 40mm feed and one of the filters for the box inlet with daul 50mm coundiut running from behind the front spook up to the filter. Dropped inlet temps by 20-30% also gives the inlet a higher idle vac load which is always good.

also bought a new autometer digi tach , mounted it up on column, made a box for the ign barrel and start button to sit in , got a old shiftlight mounted for a oil warn lamp aswell , got a cardboard tube wrapped in tape to hide indicator switch guts , looks decent and fuctional plus can be removed without trace and returned to stock
Took for a quick spin yesterday and was happy and suprised at the results , runs quite well compared to the previous su setup clean pulls from low down to 5000+ I wasnt game to push further
It sounds fantastic on WOT (Ill try and get a video asap) quiet on light cruise
Im still unsure if Ill get it dyno tuned as power isnt really a concern with it being an old 1600cc might just keep tinkering away on tune and see what i can do myself with the wide band.
Might need a hand from an Ozdat accreditted driver/tuner to assist (apply here)
next time I take it out ill video it
