I havent seen a thread like this on here, so i decided to make one as i have recently i've acquired a set of NOS 1600 indicators from Japan and a set of aftermarket ones from Singapore.

NOS: http://www.datsport.com/electrical-body ... -list.html $89 ea
Aftermarket: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DATSUN-5 ... ccessories Around $20/$25 pair
The most obvious difference is the fact that the aftermarket ones have two screws on the lense.

Aftermarket:

The rubber around the aftermarket lense doesnt sit as flush or look as smooth at the NOS one, its also made of a worse-quality material.
The rubber on the housing is a lot thicker on the NOS ones also, so it would have a much more flush/solid connection to the front guards.

Aftermarket:

NOS:

The wiring on the NOS ones has a grommet, tubing and connectors on the end, unlike the aftermarket ones.

Inside also looks different:

Let me know if you have any more questions or anything.

Cheers

Good summary - I've got aftermarket on the race car, saving the genuine Nissan ones.

I've got similar aftermarket ones on the rally car.
They don't seal very well, and the plastic the lens is made from is quite weak.
Still, they're better than nothing, which is what I had.

The aftermarket ones are made in Thailand. I guess we are just lucky something is available, just wish they didn't have to put the screws in them.

With the NOS ones, have you tried fitting them yet as I saw mention on the US forums of their being some they are actually different in length, but my guess is the longer ones come off a 521 or similar as I think they use the same or similar light.

the guard indicator holes on 68's and 69's with the early 'up-turned' side indicators have smaller cutouts in the guard.
This might be what they were talking about?
The later model 510's in America had 120y/180B style indicators (rectangle).
