Hi all, just as an initial guide can anyone tell me how much I can safely lop of the bottom of my A12 sump, need a little more clearance than I currently have and can it be done without shortening the pickup in the sump or will I need to cut that by a similiar amount. Happy to weld wings on the side for capacity if necessary.Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the A12 exactly but most oil pickups sit pretty close to bottom of the sump. So much so that if you dent the sump it will crush the gauze wire covering the pickup tube end. So i'd say at a guess, what ever you take off the sump then you will most likely have to shorten the oil pickup by the same amount...

Also, if you add "wings" to the sump keep an eye on clearances especially between the sump and the exhaust header
