I think he is trying to ask a half decent question, obviously he might not be the most mechanically minded person on earth, but atleast be nice about it.. Looks like a pritty straight forward swap too me.. but i don't know much about 120y's/1200's and the like... hahahaha. |

Old vs. new brake master cylinders: silly me went and spilled brake fluid all over the freshly painted booster
So the 280zx assembly just bolts straight in (but the lines would need to be re-routed)?edit: just read you put the 280zx master on the 120Y booster, was that as simple as bolting it on too? |

Yes I believe you can go too big, I think mr shoesmith (sx510) is using a 1" master and finds it too big.
By "too big" do you mean it just locks up the wheels and is a bit touchy? |

yep 280zx master cylinder (very hard to find, I had to buy a 280zx to get one) bolted straight up to small can 120Y booster (not to PBR booster), and line had to be re-routed (cut bends out of old lines and got new fittings+flaring done at local brake shop for ~$15. By "too big" I assume he meant not enough pedal travel ie. all the braking is done with the pedal barely moving... |

There's a white 280ZX at one of the local wreckers, might have a look before they scrap it, stupid cnts that they are. Are the booster-to-firewall studs of the PBR booster and 280 boosters in the same positions? I have a feeling my booster has had it, really have to stand on the pedal to slow down quick enough, or is that just the norm for the PBR equipped Y's? |

you dont use the 280zx booster, just the master cylinder on a 120Y booster. it could need a rebuild, but better off to get a working small can booster. |

Heard of any other boosters that fit like the small can ones? |

early 180b is the same I think. People have used la/lb lancer ones on 1200s, so 120Y would probably be the same. |
