Strayed from Nissan / Datsun and got a Toyota
The D40 Navara's just didn't seem to grab us, D22 Navara seemed better, but didn't have enough rear legroom for the kids. Also looked at the usual range - Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger / Mazda BT-50, Holden Rodeo / Colorado / Isuzu D-Max.
Ended up with this one because it seemed to be the roomiest and easiest to drive (important as the wife will be using it). It seemed more car-like on the road, the others were a bit rougher / less comfortable. We weren't that concerned with offroad ability, we won't be doing any hardcore 4WD'ing - just up the local beach (Stockton) and up the mountains, any 4WD in this class should be more than adequate for what we will do.
Plus this particular one was a good buy (I think). 2006 SR Hilux 4X4 (so the base model), but previous owner fitted just about every option tha Toyota makes for it, from bonnet protector right through to rear canopy, side steps, towbar, huge bullbar (important if you own a 4WD, apparently
), even an LSD (which I believe were only standard on the top of the range SR5 model). From what we can see, they used it for a 10,000k trip, then the next 2 and a half years it did another 10,000k. So, its basically brand new with only 20,000k's on it.
Should be just the thing for towing the datto and the caravan
