Hi Guys,

I am at the buying jets etc. stage of my build. Specs are 1853cc 10.5:1 comp 72 deg cam flat-tops and port and polished head with genie extractors.

The stuff I think I need is
36mm Venturi
145 main jets
190 Air correctors
7772.6 Emulsions
45 idle jets

This is for twin DHLA's Does this sound to you guys like a good place to start?

hey where are you buying your jets, if you don't mind me asking.
also what are the approx prices of jets.

i am running a stock l20b and it is lean on the top end (goes really flat over 4500rpm.

I'd be interested to know where you're getting jets from too!

Also, from what I know about sidedrafts (which isn't much) those venturi's sound a bit on the large side, might give you grief down low.

I had a mate with a 13b mild extend - he had a single 45 IDF with 42 Venturi's, bogged down in a big way under 2 and a half, but once it hit , it sure hit... Moving down to 38's kept most of the top end, but also gave back a heap of drivability.

Just something to think about I guess...

Also have a look here for some suggestions too.

My plan to do mine was going to use:

Chokes: 34-36mm
Idle Jets: 60, 65 (much larger than normal)
Mains: 140, 145
Emulsion tube: 7772.5 - 7772.7
Air corrector: 180, 190
Auxiliary Venturi: 7848.3, 7848.1
Accelerator pump jets: ~40

I have a very similar setup to you, and your guess seems on the money. I'm inclined to go a little 'over size' because of what you're asking from the twin 40's.

Parts were hard to find, and everyone's nagging of "40's are too small" got to me. As such, i just bought some 45 Webers... 8)
No more fu(king around

Good luck mate, i'm keen to see how you go. Don't worry about down low perfomance, with that cam it don't matter... especially if you've got the 'emission' DHLA40's.
