Yes thats right Bart and can also rid those ugly but often necessary for torque secondary butterflys.

Tomei have recently reduced the price on their Camshafts. The Procam 270's for hydraulic lifters are a no brainer for Bang for Buck.

Just a bit of an Update as to where my car is at:

and it, along with 80L of BP Racing 100 (AKA: Full leaded, green dyed AVGAS 100/130,) was taken to JAZMAC for tuning. First dyno pull in 2-3 weeks. I believe that this will be the first documented CA18DET circuit engine to be tuned on AVGAS (in Australia at least.) Will keep this thread posted with how the CA18DET likes heavy leaded fuel (up to .83g/L.) The Technical Datasheet (TDS) can be found here, if you're interested on the fuel makeup.

Oh JA why you getting me totally interested again in these cars!!!
Same wheelbase as a 1600 (510) but best original shape from Toyota
even more original than gt2000 which borrowed from others.

Any info anywhere on your setup, looks like theres more than just
inlet plenum mods :) - very nice the way it turns like A/market ones.
Ive only heard good things of the ca hydraulic lifters when other engines
seem to be a bottle neck. Im personally favour less periodic adjustment
of valves when it comes to 16+ valves compared to 8v.

Hey D,

Thanks for the support. A full list of the current specifications and planned future changes can be found here. On the final page of the document. The car is being built up to Sports Sedan S2 regulations. There's a good chance I'll be changing turbochargers to an EFR BorgWarner unit.

Solid Lifters aren't an issue. Keep in mind most Toyota Engines have them out of the box (4AG, 1/2JZ, 3SGTE, All V6 up until recently, 1UZFE, the list goes on...) and I've never had to "Adjust my Shims" in my 3SGTE powered Caldina GT-T. Hell the 1ZZ-FE and 1SZ-FE have completely solid buckets. You actually have to buy the correct thickness cam bucket :shock: Very, Very light, no Shims. :thumbsup:

And just to pull this back on topic with a obscure piece of information :oops: On a quiet note for those on the inside: 1ZZ-FE Cam buckets are the same diameter as the CA18DET ones ;) Toyota charge ~$22AUD per lifter and don't think that this isn't the way I'll go if I need to switch out from Hydraulic lifters. I'm pretty sure no one has done this before, as it's rather random. Using these lifters means new valves but critically means that, one can use much longer (and therein stronger/stiffer) valve springs ;)

Thanks for the heads up! always thought the izzy was a useless engine
in corollas compared to the 2zz-fe. Cant wait to tuck into one now.
Any similar solution to suitable valves (eg 2zzfe) or am I pushing it :)
by the way that link is not working for the specs and I think if you have
time your achievement(s) deserve their own thread on this project here
on Ozdat as there will be many who would be interested in your chase
for points with an often overlooked but formidable Nissan engine.

hi all, searched the thread and couldnt find any info on auto gearboxes
my question is what flex plate and torque converter do i need, and can i use the ca20 items?
planning to upgrade to s13 auto eventually, but really just wanna get the car back on the road for now

engine is ca18de
and im going auto because i want it for more of a cruiser then anything else

Yep CA20 items will work. You'll need a CA20 flex plate, torque converter and box.
