Under driving the water pump is a good idea for sustained high RPM work. That said I'm using all factory pulleys and we'll see how we go, if it's an issue it'll be changed.

The crank pulley was initially a 3 row front pulley thats had one of the rows removed on a lathe for weight reduction. It was subsequently balanced with the crank and clutch assembly.

As for the gates timing belt: if it were up to me I'd have bought the Bosch unit for $45 on ebay (it's Bosch so you know it's good.) As it stands my engine builder charged me $100 for the Gates blue as part of the build. Unless you're running it exposed and want some bling (not my reason for having it,) just go Bosch.

I had cavitation issues where I first tracked my 1600 with CA. The undriven balancer help my temps by over 10 degrees. Only bugger about it is I have to bring the revs up to about 1500RPM after first starting the car to get the alternator to start its charge.

I bought mine from fleabay about $250. I have not seen them for sale on fleabay for a while. This should give you a good start anyway. It's a real damper not your typical cheap crap alloy solid jigga. Enjoy!

I can't remember the sizes. However I went to Bursons and bought there listed parts for the CA18DE and they did not fit. They either gave me the wrong ones or the part numbers are wrong in there system. I ended up getting them from Nissan. I had to order gaskets etc from nissan anyway. I think the set was $4 more expensive than Bursons

Nissan gasket set prices vary locally, anyone recommend the american ebay gasket sets?

Just go in to Nissan and ask for trade price. I buy all my Nissan parts from Brighton Nissan. Good guys down there.

I brought the timing kit + oil pump from these guys, great to deal with. Ebay USA is good for deals, but not someones listed welch plug kit for 80bucks lol! courtsey nissan want >2 each plug.

Has anyone re ground or had stock camshafts for more duration or uneven duration and lift?
Some guys in the US have commented that its best to use the Nissan camshafts as they
have higher nickel content than the blanks used for custom grinds.

The reason I say uneven duration is because there is some benefit in the lower and mid
ends if one inlet valve is opened earlier with the other later instead of 2 at once.

Creates more swirl does it not?
