 Post subject: Weight of a 1600 ??

I am interested in the weight of a standard 1600.

As I am using the motor and running gear from my smashed SSS in the "new" 1600 (when it is finished) I want to find out what sort of gains I will get from the weight reduction alone.

A 180B SSS weighs approx 1040 kg.
I'm sure a 1600 is around 940 kg. Is this correct ??
Anyone got the exact weight ?

i'd tend to say there isnt a single "standard" 1600 that weighs as it was from factory.

according to the wheels road test from 1971, found in the 1600 workshop manual, its 909kg. im pretty sure its abit more- closer to seans 952, but its definatley under 1000kg

mate i weighted mine the other day.
mine was 1080,
10kg in audio goods. 1 gauge fmic r180 trx wheels no spare... 10lt of fuel

I've heard of a couple fo SR 1600s weighed. 1050 for both, including R200 in the rear.

I can back that up. Not many twin cam turbos would weigh in under 1000kg.
Even an L20b/5speed/R180 would add quite a few kg over a stock L16/4speed combination.

There is a weighbridge near my house - I might weigh mine when it is back on the road.

My 72 (FJ20et) and my Bro's 71 (SR20det) both weighed 1040kg on the same weighbridge.

Ok that is odd, seeing as a FJ weighs more than a SR. :shock:

Any other differences? other than the motors and year?

At that stage the only difference was the SR was intercooled and the FJ wasnt, Also the SR had Hilux calipers on the front, where as the FJ had Sumitomo's. Having lifted both SR's and FJ's around my garage the weight difference is negligable.
