Another low mileage classic offered being offered unreserved at the Shannons Sydney auction is a light green 1970 Datsun 1600 that has covered just 50,000km since new in the hands of its original Tumut, NSW lady owner and comes with a full Snowy Mountains service history.

The Datsun 510 series, or 1600 as it was known in Australia, was introduced in 1967 and soon became known as a ?poor man?s BMW 2002? because of its punchy single overhead camshaft1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, four-speed gearbox, front disc brakes and excellent handling thanks to the independent rear end. As a result, the Datsun 1600 remain a popular choice for a variety of club motor sport disciplines today, such as historic rallying.

A very straight, clean car with no discernable rust, this Datsun is being sold registered in New South Wales and comes with the original logbook and full service history.

It is expected to sell in the range from $2,500-$5,000, representing a very usable and collectable classic, or the basis of an inexpensive club car

One of the datnet guys went and checked it out, said it had dings all over it, the interior was "original" to say the least and that it was worth $3500 max.

The shannons guy reckon its going to sell for between $8 - 9k

There is the low down for any interstate buyers considering paying top dollar for this car (no im not interested in buying this car, check out the thread on datnet for confirmation)

Beats me how they can say it is straight when it has dings all over it.

If I ever have to sell my 1600, Shannons Auctions seems like the place.
How much money would Shannons be making from that deal though ?

Bugger, I had planned to phone bid, I had spoken to the shannons bloke, he had sent me the paperwork so I could bid, work has been soo busy, I forgot it was coming up.
I have also been hit with the flue really bad this week :impatient:

Ohh well.
It would of sold for $5,000.00 or more If I bidded.

I planned to go in with first bid of $2,500.00 just to try and scare of the other bidders and go up from there.

I have a full set of photo's at work, I might shrink them a little, to show you all what it was really like.

If I don't forget that is.
