i have a front strut brace and the rear i will put on if i remove the fuel tank. is there any other ways i can make it more stiffer? besides seam welding.

You want safety "when" or "if" you roll over?

If it's for a competition car, find out first what cage the regulations allow / require. Some classes won't let you run a half cage.

If it's for a street only car, forget it and spend your money on something useful.

Weld in is always better than bolt in.

I say pick anpother car to ROLLOVER! 1st gen RX7 plentiful and cheap
To many get rolled here in the states still. Pretty soon none (510s)will be left.

Remember MadMax? The Last of the Datsun 1600s(Ok I changed it)

hey Spandex,

There's a bolt in 6 point for sale on the classifieds, which has a rear cross brace. If installed correctly (Ie plating the mount points, etc) this would meet your requirements if you ever turn turtle.

A professionally welded in structual cage will always be better but if you plan to use it on the street the bolt is more legal and can be removed if defected. In NSW a 4 point cage is fine as long as it doesn't obstruct doorhandles, window winders etc, though the front inserts (the 5th & 6th point) are definitely not legal for road use.

It will be far stiffer if it's welded in. I'd wouldn't like to give a percentage but a welded in cage is normally attached to pillars & strut towers etc giving much greater rigidity. Checkout the link below for more information.

if the cage is for CAMS events it has to be 6 point steel. new rules for 2005. welded in is better :)

engineering is no problem if its built properly, but you might not legally be able to use your back seat due to access etc. My car is now strictly a 2 seater.

price wise you often see alloy bolt ins for around $150.00 second hand.
