any pics to support any of these builds?
is there any results from complete builds.
im quiet interested in this topic, and would love any additional conclusions to people using dohc and sohc heads.

There was a twin cam one at the nationals. Have a look through the nationals thread for photos - its a pale blue one.

It was running efi, and sounded great on the practice day. Seemd a bit off on actual race day, looked as though it had tuning issue ?? It looked to be blowing black smoke. Speaking to the owner, he wasn't 100% sure how it was put together as it was built for him, but he reckoned it went very well once it got up and running, but was a bit temperamental down low in the rev range. I'd guess this was probably due to the ports being designed for a 2.4l motor, probably didn't have enough air moving through at lower revs to work well in a much smaller capacity motor.

Certainly was very neat though, and sounded beautiful at full noise

Dave, when i was speaking to them about their 1600, they said it was purely a tuning issue, as the tuning is far from finished, and only got the tuning right for the top end, and the idle and low rpm setup still needs more work, plus its only just been run in too

Hey Nick,
When we got the car back to melb and plugged in the Motec it turned out the TPS was going haywire, jumping around from anywhere between 2% to 95% at idle. I am told the default positition is 80% when this happens, which is why it was running so rich down low on the race day. I guess thats the perils of finishing a car the day before the Nationals!
Had we been at sandown we may have been able to rectify it on the day...

Can i get some more pics of this engine. Side to side and such. And a better view of what you did to mate the timing covers together. Looks like you welded a flange of sorts onto the l/z cover and used the stock ka upper cover and mated them.

Looks mighty fine.

Well i finally found a ka24de head.

Will have to start playing with it and see what a night mare this becomes.

Still, if any one has a few more pics on the above build, i would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers.

I read somewhere, maybe on here, that the later KA24 mat have higher compresson, according to wikipedia japan, they have a compresson of 9.2 like most of the others, so not higher compresson.

If I didn't have an SR16ve to build I'd do this build just to do it and make the parts available.

I too think more pics from different angles would be good.

Is this on an L18?

Spent a good part of the day making an adaptor plate for the twin cam KA24DE mod for use on an l20b block. Plan is to use an L16- L18 bottom timing cover with an adaptor plate made out of a solid billit of aluminum. Will let all know how i went with it once finished.

Sounds like a reasonable idea. Must show some pics for good measure.

No doubt i will have to devise something when i whack the ka24de head onto my z18 block.

Happy to see more people attempting this.
