Post subject:  Suggestions for Topics to be moved to the FAQ

Hi Everyone

Some of you will have noticed that I have created a couple of new forums... the "FAQ and DIY tutorials" and "Group Buys"

I have moved one thead to the FAQ today...
What we need now is suggestions for old threads that should also be moved...
I don't get to read all the posts so I will have to rely on you guys for this....

So post your suggestions here, and if it is agreed that the topic is asked frequently, then I will move the topic over to the FAQ.

cheers
James

It would be a great idea if the person that asks a question, ie, posts a new topic, also closes off the topic with a detailed summary of what has been learnt. These summaries could then be pasted into the FAQ section.

What do you think?

thanks guys... but what I really need is links to the relevant old topics....
Now you ain't going to tell _ME_ to do a search are you?

maybe some of the stuff will need to be summarised or compiled from several topics into a new one....
Also please feel free to submit any new items for inclusion...

James,

The problem is there is a difference between FAQ's (How do I turbo my L series?) and Technical Reference (Vehicle dynamics of a 1600).

Maybe you could change it from FAQ to Tech Reference??? Since both the examples could go in a Tech section but only the Turbo one gets asked frequently.

Just my opinion.

:)

I was also thinking about that Vehicle Dynamics thread, but my concern is that the title of the thread is something to do with Datsport rear X-members. It wouldn't be obvious to forum-goers, that most of the discussion was to do with vehicle dynamics as a whole.

Could the thread be re-named, or is that not possible?

Also, to help answer your question James, I thought this was a keeper:

Keep up the good work, James. :)

this thread.
please.
i'm about to blow a gasket here, or get shot out the sky for doing so, from answering it so many times.

maybe the thread about the T3 turbo kit for 'group buys' that was discussed in this thread too. if there's enough interest i'm considering developing one.

OOOH and jet sizes for webers / needles for SUs etc etc. EVERYONE could use that!

maybe if someone has the time they could do an excel sheet on the cam duration (std, 25/65, 28/68, 30/70, 32/72 35/75 etc) , engine size (1200, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1800, 2000, 2100 2400) and jets / mains sizes that co-relate to them.

OK, I've moved those threads to the FAQ section.
Are there any more threads that deserve to be moved?

Theres a good link to a site covering all the heads...

Maybe we could even make a thread with links?

What about this one? Its just a fairly basic rundown on ignition timing for an L-series. It's probably not as frequently asked as some others, but it may be useful for some people.

How about a write up on the pro's and con's of CA vs FJ vs SR vs A-series vs L-series. And more importantly what in general terms is the best bang for your buck depending upon the horsepower you want and the amount of money you have to spend. There would have to be a question on this at least once a month with two or more of the above mentioned engines.
Maybe one of the moderators or could write up a draft copy and when they all agree most aspects have been covered put the post up.

Hope I'm not asking too much here.

There seems to be a few L18 topics doing the rounds on here. Maybe the topic of "doing them up" should be created and expertly edited in the FAQ.

I mean, don't just copy/ paste someones thread: Make one from scratch that asks and answers the most common questions. Example ONLY

Q) What can i do to get more grunt out of my atmo L18?
A) Webers, higher compression, cam, bigger valves etc

Q) What cam suits what power bands?
A) 270' with high lift good all-rounder, 300'+ high lift = racing

Q) What preparation do i do to my L18's bottom end?
A) They're tough!

Q) What blocks can i bolt my L18 head onto?
A) Lots

You see my point?
These are common questions, such a highly used Datsun Website should have definitive answers, which are easy to find. My 'example only' questions and answers might be 'bogus' but you get what i mean?

Also, in general i think there should be more topics in the FAQs. For all Datsun engines. There's not really much at all in there :(

Thanks.
