Post subject:  Help Finding hilux 4 cylinder calipers

Hello squad.

So I bought a 1600 that needs alot of TLC.

I fixed the rear brakes shoes, replaced almost 70% of all brake lines, fitted a Mad dat booster & brake master, got cutom brake lines made up for the new master....all that is left is my front brakes setup.

My good friend nick has been helping me with info and has helped me so much but

I am having trouble sourcing "Toyota hilux/4Runner/Surf brake calipers Years 79-90"
I am aware that they need to have "S12+8" on the casting/engraved.

Does anyone know exactly what model has these calipers?
or year?
because been to pick & payless and multiple wreckers and they only have s13w and they look verry different to the s12+8 casting

Any help appreciated

Hi Anth,

I know for a fact that you can get the non-vented type from a 1978-1983-shape LN46 or RN46 4wd Hilux (I know this because I have one) or the vented type from a 60-series Land Cruiser (I know this because my friend has one). I had a spare pair of the non-vented variety that went in the bin about two years ago because I couldn't give them away!

Alternatively, you can sometimes find them brand new on eBay. I'm not sure if there will be a way to specifically tell if they are the required S12+8 calipers, but it might be worth sending the seller a message.
