Where is the cheapest place to buy repair sections from? Prices on Ebay make me want to buy my own shrinker/stretcher and brake press. :? :? :?

Depending on what you need to make, the ordinary brake press, vice, clamps, straight edges etc. can do nicely.
You still need a crafty flair and be somewhat creative but it can be done.
The trouble I see with those pre-manufactured rust repair sections that you refer to, is fit and finish.
I would like to size them up on a body before handing over the hard earned.
I'm not saying they are junk, just wary of their accuracy and quality.
If anybody on this Forum has purchased and used them I would like to hear their opinion.
You can also have a look at the website in my signature and see what patch panels I was able to make to restore my 1965 Fairlady.
It can be very satisfying to produce your own panels and see a car come back from the brink :)

I have bought rear quarter lower sections and boot drop offs. The boot drop offs are ok and the quarters aren't quite a good fit. Need enough boot lip profile to warrant getting or making a shrinker/stretcher (ebay cost is expensive).

My latest datto is in poor condition and whilst rust repair panels are available I am going to go down the make my own path.A friend of mine is into medieval armour and knows how to make many weird and wonderfull shapes.I have made hard wood forms for him and he just bashes the sheet metal into the form Obviously there is a bit more to it than that but lots of rust repair bits are easy to make compared the the brilliant stuff he makes.I ain't no panel beater but I can make forms and moulds extremly well.I once made a plug and mould for a Datsun 1600 external fibreglass (Aunger type) louvre.Sill pieces are easy and so are other parts.Dog legs and wheel arch parts are tricker but I am sure I can do that.Just got my car yesterday ,last night actually but it's in a sad state. My car will require a full strip down put on a rotisserie.

I took a similar approach to some of the harder rust repair sections of my 180B SSS, but slightly different.

I made a form out of concrete from a good section of the car for some bits like around the rear screen, and simply hammered the sheetmetal into the concrete mould. Turned out pretty good.

I ended up making a small brake press out of angle iron and picked up a shrinker/stretcher for the right price. Boot lip looks ok for a first attempt.
