I'm wondering what temps you guys are running with sr's in your dattos. I've recently put air con in mine and now I cannot keep the temps low especially on these summer days. I've tried water wetter and racing coolant but temps on a 30+ degree day with aircon on will hit near 120c in traffic. Anyone else had the same problem? Any suggestions on solutions?

Is the temperature you are reading accurate?
Do you have auxiliary cooling fans to assist the system when the air con is on?

yea thermo fan kicks in at 80. temp reading is coming straight ecu. problem is the intercooler and condenser just blocking to much of the radiator

Is the thermo sucking air and not pushing the air back through the radiator?

120c how are you not boiling all the water out of your radiator?
Maybe calibration of sensor is out in the ecu?

I would be checking with another source to make sure temp gauge in right

16" spal should flow enough air is this mounted so it can only suck air through the radiator?

The water is boiling cause I can hear it but it doesn't boil out.
Do you have a condensor as well?

Are you running an SR20DET?
How big is your thermo fan?

One of the issues I used to have was hot air would rise from from the engine bay (turbo/exhaust) and also after the intercooler/radiator while the thermo fan was on, would come out the top of the bonnet (all along where the big gap is between the bonnet and where the bonnet catch is) and then get sucked straight back through the intercooler/radiator again. It would just circulate!
I pop riveted some small aluminium L section underneath the bonnet and attached some rubber seal over that to seal the underside.
I also added some folded aluminium sheet on the sides of the radiator area to make sure air is being ducted through the radiator and not around it. Seems to make a fair bit of difference in peak hour traffic. Haven't trialled it on the race track yet.

The heat generated by the air conditioning condenser would add to the amount of heat entering the engine bay/radiator. Having a way of getting air from the front of the car outside through all of these will require some careful ducting IMHO. so when the fan kicks in, you are actually getting air through the whole lot.

Yes it's turbo. Right now running a 12" thermo but have ordered 2 10" and going to see if this makes a difference. I don't see how guys are running 16" thermos?? There's no space at all.

You are probably right with the air circulating as the thermo throws all the air straight to the front of the engine block so it goes nowhere, but I don't feel any air coming back out the bonnet.

With the 2 thermos I was going to try to duct them into splitting the air coming off the radiator and going either side of the block.

From memory I'm running a 12" thermo. You are right, space is limited. More depth from the rad to the pulley for me.
As soon as my thermo kicked in, hot air would come out the front side of the bonnet.
Regardless, I would try and put some duct/channels so the air you are pulling through goes through each of your condenser, intercooler and radiator. I wouldn't worry too much about the air hitting the inside of the engine in the engine bay.
I'm surprised you managed to fit a condenser in there! It's nice and tight!

To run my 16" thermo i had the bottom pulley machined to just one pulley and the water pump bolts shaved down and the thermo sits about 3mm of these bolts
