ok guys my 1600 is painted white and im a bit confused. I thought it was original paint because there is a section that has peeled and its 1 layer of the top coat but under it is red which im assuming is the old primer? BUT.... assuming the red is the old primer and top coat is white then the original paint would be acrylic wouldn't it??? so I grabbed a rag with some 2k thinners on it to test but the paint didn't wipe off so the top coat must be 2pac? by the paint code the car came white from factory. am I right is assuming the factory paint is acrylic?? |

It would most likely have been acrylic originally. Baked acrylic enamel though, not acrylic lacquer. |

The original colour will be evident on interior panels. The front guards are replaceable so they may not reflect the original colour. |

My 68 1600 was off white and i believe it was the original paint. When i stripped it back it had a red oxide primer under the white which was tough as nails to remove. The original paint on my car was an amino alkyd enamel as It had a sticker on the slam panel stating so. Its basically a baked enamel. |

Is baked enamel as tough as 2k. Is that why it doesn't rub off with the 2k thinner? |

So to paint a repair what would I do? Just get the colour matched in 2k? And use 2k primers |
