Post subject:  1972 1600 SSS in Australia

Hey All,

I am trying gauge how rare/unique my car would be in Australia and if it will be worth importing (I am moving back in a couple of years). It is an NZ delivered 72 SSS which is a Japanese built car (shipped here as a complete car). I'm assuming it would be pretty unique as Australia built their own cars in 72 (did they build any SSS's?). Anyway, any insight would be appreciated - I am probably bringing the car regardless but would like the piece of mind that it might be a little unique (and valuable) in the coming years.

Cheers!

It would definitely be quite a rare car over here. There are a few SSS's around but most came in via "non official"
channels - one I know of came via Malaysia, another from New Guinea.

There are also a few "replicas", people bringing in the SSS-specific stuff from Japan for fitment to an Australian-made car.

Thanks for the info. Can't wait to get it there eventually.

I would say rare and I did see a South African 1800 SSS that a guy in Tassie had.I know they made them but had my suspicions on this one.It looked the part but this bloke said he was a white South African and he brought it out here when he came.Tell me why would a South African born white fella have a broad Aussie accent?Anyway a real Kiwi SSS would be cool and most definately unique here in Oz.Post some pics for us to Drool over will you?I love car porn especially 1600's.
