Gday Guys,
I'm Dave the sad... oh so very sad / frustrated owner of the not so mean 16.
I'm wondering if there is a way to test the iacv without removing the inlet manifold?(it looks like thats the
only way i can remove it??)
This week I added a fuel pressure gauge to the inlet line. It's reading approx 52psi on priming.
drops straight back down to 20 psi or below after priming.
Tonight I was able start the car with the throttle open. It was somewhat responsive when opening and closing the throttle
(although you can tell it's not running right, with a few mis fires and pops)
I had it running for about 4-5 minutes (rocker cover was getting hot) (temp gauge was reading approx 61degrees)
The turbo sounds like it's whistling abit more than i remember it doing (when it was running nice and idling by itself)
and the boost gauge is reading -10 (used to read -20 on idle)
Motor stopped almost straight away when i didn't keep the throttle open
the garage was pretty smokey and very very fumey (sting your eyes petrol? fumey)
Wasn't able to get the car to start again...
I rigged up an old bosch efi pump to a jerry can to see if there was anything different.
(no change to fuel pressure straight to approx 52 psi when running and straight back down to approx 20 psi when stopped)
I was not able to get the car to start, even with the throttle open
Thank you very much for taking the time to read the post.
a huge mega massive thank you to Trent for all your time
If there is anything i can check or do before trying to remove and clean the iac(as that looks like a fun job)
I was thinking of buying a turbosmart 800 fpr and seeing if this changes anything.
Thanks again for your reading and thanks for any advice you can offer.
Cheers
Dave
