Hey guys new here picked myself up a 260c that I saved, and thought I would share with you guys. It has a problem with the power windows and the guy I got it from just had it sitting out in the rain!! Interior is a bit sad but has mad pimped out seats, aircon, power steer, and an A track player! Will upload more pics tomorrow, but so far can tell no power windows, headlights don't work, no radio, no fan must be some major earth leak somewhere im guessing?? Oh yea its the 1975 model and auto, also sounds like its running on five cylinders. Last mechanic report from last year states that carby needs rebuild, all original documents and stacks and stacks of receipts somebody looked after the old beast previously. Plans to keep original and cruise! Stay tuned!

Cheers man yeah there's a few little rust spots but nothing too major, for a 40 year old car it's in pretty good shape. Looks so much better now I cleaned the outside, on the inside I vacuumed out a few kilos of leaves and nuts from the tree it was parked under! Needs some more tlc on the inside so it looks a bit more presentable. I will need new seats though the fabric is showing its age but for now it will do! What do you reckon my chances of finding seats like this in original good nick? Hahahha probly have to go to the motor trimmers but no rush, need a new carby first! Here's some pics all nice n clean!

Does anybody else have an A track in their 260? Its my favourite part! We're these a stock fitment or option? Fella I bought it from said it worked until all the electric problems now I gotta find some A Tracks!

So few things been done. Noticed when running that the CHG light was on and after idling for a bit I could hear the battery sizzling, too much voltage! So I replaced the voltage regulator and all sweet again. Explains why everything is blown.. And I mean everything... The windows, every single brake globe, two of the sealed beams, two parking lights in front bumper, dash lights, interior lights... Some of the globes had even exploded! Old mate must have been running it for ages with a dodgy voltage regulator and just drove it till everything blew up! What a pea-nut. So replaced all globes and fuses and slowly most things came to life. Power aerial works! Radio works and auto tune still works! Brake lights good, headlights good but still need the two inner sealed beams will have to hunt around... Some interior lights working some not, might need a little more playing with wires and corroded contacts. The windows were down for a few months I think the moisture didn't help.. Speaking of the windows so now I know I had power to them and still no love, the previous owner said a massive puff of smoke came from drivers door controls. I rang a few wreckers and they assured me I would have to replace the whole switch unit at a cost of $240!!! And I almost payed for it too but after driving and hour and a half to this place the switches he had were from a later model!!! What an idiot wrecker apparently a Datsun specialist Pfft! And being no other Datsun wreckers in adelaide with the parts I decided to open her up and have a look.

The blue and green wire had fused together so I separated and soldered them..

[ img ]
I also found some of the copper contacts had fused and welded themselves to the contact points so I dislodged with a screwdriver then fabricated some of my own switch pieces!

[ img ]
Here's the inside of switch panel all good now ready for testing and now all windows work!!! Super stoked!

[ img ]

[ img ]
I also tidied up the door handle recesses with some brasso and steel wool they came up like new! Also did the wndow switches...

[ img ]

[ img ]

Then I got bored and brasso'd all the chrome trim and the bumpers, she's coming up a treat!

Now all she needs is the carby rebuilt and will be cruising soon!

nice work on the door handle recesses and window switches!

I heard or maybe read somewhere that a nissan td27 alternator is a bolt on, or close to it and just needs the pulley swapped i think.

I run an RB25 alternator, with a pulley swap on mine. Pulley needed to be machined slightly to get the alignment right but the alternator itself was a bolt on.
