Usually the gear teeth in the winder mechanism wears out. Easiest to replace it with another good condition used mech.

To remove inner door handles:
Turn the handle so it points upward. You should see a small gap underneath the arm of the door handle.
If the inner trim is in the way, wedge a screwdriver etc between the trim and handle.
Shine a torch down the gap just made and try to see which way the clip has been installed onto the handle shaft.
You may be able to push the ends of the clip downward with another screwdriver or, if only the loop of the clip is shown, get some 1mm solid wire. Using needle nose pliers, bend a very small hook (a few mm in diameter) and jag the clip upward to pull it out.

You can sometimes get the clips off by being rough too. Pull the handle away from the door by holding the fattest end of the handle and wiggle it left and right while maintaining pressure. Sometimes they pop right off if the clip is worn...

Hey - I know its an old topic but was wondering if any of you guys could possibly give me some pointers on how to remove the mechanism itself? If you have photos that would be great but they aren't essential.

Cheers

Shamo, remove the window and outer belt trim, un bolt the mechanism and slide out the top. sounds brief but literally thats it. keep the mechanism arms as close together as possible
