Hi Everyone

To keep a long story short, I bought some wheels for my 79 200b.
They clear the back fine, yet at the front the rim rubs on the strut (Too much positive offset).
I measured how much clearance is needed for them to fit and it came to about 20 to 25mm.
Obviously this can be easily taken care of with some 20mm bolt on spacers but I want to keep it fairly legal and
I don't want to have to cut my studs shorter.

So I got the idea that instead of using spacers I could find a set of slightly wider hubs to accommodate for the higher offset.
So my question is; Is there any hubs that you know of that would fit the standard 200b strut that is wider than the stock hub?

Any help on this matter would be very appreciative

Thanks

Ben

Also:
*Getting different, proper offset wheels isn't really an option at this point in time.
*I have an 83 Nissan Bluebird, that I can salvage the hubs or even the struts entirely if need be. Could these be used?

In a nut shell, no. You can use R31 struts to gain some clearance but i doubt youll get 20-25mm.
Sounds like you have bought FWD rims and should probably sell them...

Yeah your probably right. Having said that, there really isn't a lot of wheel choices these days for Datsun that are readily available in Australia. Everything relatively modern looking is either high offset or low offset but too wide. It seems that what I need is sitting in a 'grey area' that no wheel manufacturer caters to.

Sounds like 180sx rims. You get the same problem when trying to bolt them on an r31. I am believe if you do the s14 upgrade on your front suspension/brakes then they will fit

What does this involve? Swapping the struts and hubs for s14 stuff?

I tried the rims on a bluebird this morning and found there was enough clearance for the wheel. I'll measure the hub width tonight and see if there's any difference. I'll post the results. If its wider I'll bolt them on the 200b strut. If not I'll change the struts over as well.

what size are you looking for? 4x114.3 14s and 15s jap rims are easy to find.

If the wheels fit 910 struts then they will fit R31 struts.

A late reply but none the less.. I fitted the 86' 910 struts and I can confirm the wheels fit perfectly. Steering in general has also improved quite a bit (I find it to be more responsive and easier to turn). So for any 200b owners out there that would like to fit wheels with offsets ranging from +30 to +40 at 7 inches wide up to 17 inches in diameter, bolting in bluebird struts will work. You are limited in tyre sizing though, I managed to fit 215/45/17 all round but that's probably the biggest you can go on the front before it starts to scrub on the strut, the back on the other hand can fit just about anything reasonable.

** Also the top of the bluebird strut is too big for the strut opening so you need to swap the top half of the 200b strut top with the bluebird top for it to fit.
** You will also need to get a brake hose made up for the drivers side caliper as the stock hose connector will not connect to the 200b brake line. It costed me $60. This will probably depend on the type of caliper thats on your strut to begin with (mine is a remtek setup) so you may not have to get one made if nissan used girlock on some of them.

Whether this helps anyone or not is another issue, I'm merely posting my findings.
