Hi All,

I’m having some seat purchase “challenges”

I want to buy these ones:

Velo GP90

http://www.velo.com.au/itemdetailspage/31924

I have spoken with Velo, great service, and they have advised they have ADR compliance 03/01.

Now my engineer who I have been in contact with multiple times stipulates the seats must be 03/22. Now 22 is the headrest however the seats are fixed so the headrest shouldn’t be a requirement. Velo have said that the seats pass engineers certification however the engineer I’m using says it’s not possible…

Thoughts?

Trent

maybe Velo could add the different/addtional adr to there approval as you stated the headrest is integral to keep the bloke happy otherwise get them independantly engineered by some place like http://www.jamiesonautofit.com.au/ they had no issue doing some really old fixed backed saas seats in a 98 hatch with papers. Qaulity work too

Hey Joel,

They said they are more than happy to speak with the engineer however I dont think they can just add it in... It needs to be stitched into the seat or printed on it. He has been quite fussy about this one.

I have some paperwork on the Sparco Sprint V's that have 03/22 approval so maybe it has to be those, I like the Sparco pro2000's but they are quite pricey..

Cheers,

Trent

hmm if you had your location in your profile we could probably help a bit more knowing what state rules apply

Trent I'm very surprised with this. My guy had no issues with the engineers documentation from Sparco. Every Engineer has his/own quirks and reads the rules slightly differently. Seems your guy is anal on head rests. You need to keep working away with the supplier and your engineer until a happy medium is found. There is always something that kicks you in the face when dealing with engineers. Hopefully this is the only kick you will encounter

Hey Brad,

Yeah I am too. I want to follow the rules so no issue there. Just why for some its OK and others not it's a bit strange.

I'll see if I can get him to call Velo and clarify it. I'll call him next week.

How are the sprints? They are another option for me.

Cheers,

Trent

OK, I have spoken with the engineer. 22 is a must. Shame, I would have like to support an Aussie business with the Velo's however it is what it is...

So....

I have these Sparco options:

Sprint, Pro2000, I already have the engineers cert for the seats.

Now I can get both in AUS however the are double the price of what I can pay if I buy from the UK

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sparco-Pro-2 ... 2c64013fee

Thoughts of buying seats OS?

Cheers,

Trent

Buying overseas should be fine IMO. The shipping will be a killer though.

Im confused as to what your engineer is endevouring to achieve.
I believe that (22) is only applied to vehicles manufactured after July 89.

Me too Baz,

I didnt think seats would have been this difficult!

I'm dissapointed that I cant get the Velo's but after speaking with him yesterday there is no moving on 22. Seems strange an Aussie company with an ADR approved seat that has passed many approvals in all states is not right for my car :(

Cheers,

Trent
