Thanks mate. Are you gonna be at Datsun day? Keen to see your rig.

One of my mates is a trimmer on the side. Took him ages to do interior, but was free labour!

Yes, correct. S15 vents bolt straight in. Good old Nissan

Hey mate just wondering what brand paint you used to do your dash? Looks like you got a good result even if it wasn't the right color

Upol Texture coat. Only place that i can find that sells it is Autolac (autolac.com.au)
I used the fine coat, not the coarse. Their product code is PLAS4/F.

Really nice build Dan. The car looks amazing and it's good to see you've gone with the best four-culinder engine possible ;)

Also I usually hate FRs (possibly thanks to too much time on AusRotary) but your car pulls them off really well, it looks awesome. For some reason I really like this picture in particular:

Thanks Alistair. I like the wheel choice too. You dont see too many with black FRs. The rear offset ended up working really well, there's plenty of dish on the rear.

I dont blame you being over the FR style. Its been done thousands of times. Ive tried to pull off something different other than a silver or polished centre.

This is my second 1600, ive only ever owned FJs, I'd rather walk with one broken thong in the rain than drive an SR ;-)

Cheers.

She came out for sunlight today. Off to a shop down the road to finish off a few things; cooler plumbing, make an airbox and cooler reservoir, make a catch can, radiator mods and weld a filler neck to the intercooler core.

Got the motivation cranking, it's such a different car when you've been building under fluro lights the whole time. Unfortunately i don't think it's going to be ready (rego'd and running) for Datsun Day :( but still gonna try to get it there. If anyone has a flat bed or a tilt/hydraulic car trailer, i'd be interested in hiring to tow it to Datsun Day. It's too low to push onto a normal car trailer.

Such a sweet colour Dan. Seeing in natural light makes it look very different.
Those rims are really growing on me.
Those pics give a really good perspective of them.

yeah i'm really happy with the colour choice. it looks jet black at night, plus it has the silver flake and blue pearl through it which you can't see in these photos. won't see another 1600 this colour for a while ;)

i think i would have ruined the car using a silver or polished wheel centre. The rear dish does it for me ;)

Are you allowed to have rear passengers if its registered as a 2 door?

The car will be registered as a two seater with a 4 point cage. Which is a fair enough rule, it's makes you very nervous sitting in that back seat with the taxi bar at just below head height.

if the taxi bar was straight across the b pillars, then I would have pushed for a 4 seat rego, but that would leave no room for the front seats :-)
