It's a bit of a long story, so if you don't like reading, wait for the pictures that will come later.

I thought it was about time I should start a "project build" write up on my current project car. It's a 1977 200B SSS which I have owned for about 18 years now. I bought it as a 16 year old with intentions on making it into a really nice show/street car that would be running a new unknown engine, an SR20DET. So in 1994 (about) I found one at an importer and was told not to buy it mate, just buy an FJ20DET. I went against everyone and got it anyway.

Rebuilt it, polished everything, bigger injectors, high flowed the turbo (sounds old school, but it was the early 90's) and it was ready for a car to go in.

While I was working on the engine, I started to strip the SSS down to a bare shell, make a rotisserie and send the body off to get acid dipped. The car came back looking great apart from to standard sections of rust, so I cut and welded new sections where needed and replaced as many panels as I could, as some were still available through Nissan back then. The shell was then sent to a couple of panel shops to straighten and prime. (Real long story)

At this point, its about 1 year on (1995ish) and I meet a girl and all my spare time and money is now gone, so the project is put to the side. Well not really it was under my parents verandah.

Fast forward to 2012 I'm now married to that Girl and have two kids, and its time to start the project again. In between then and now there have been many other projects which have been done, with intention to always finish the SSS one day.

So my plans have changed a lot since then, I now want to make it a Race only car, with intentions of competing in Super sprints, hill climbs and track day to start with and then move onto racing in Sports sedans.

Plans.
RB30/26DET Dry Sump, Built bottom end, Rebuilt head with Cams, E85, Bigger injectors, Large single turbo, Autronic
Gearbox ????
Rear end is a modified 350Z subframe, and arms
Diff is ordered, Winters IRS quick change
Performance Friction Brakes
Modified S14 front end
Cage
18x9.5 Enkei F1 Front
18x10.5 Enkei F1 rear
V mount Radiator
Carbon panels

And there is more that will be posted along the way

I'll try and get some of the old photos up to start with.

Scott

I want to do somthing different, that doesn't get done all the time.I want to give some of the modern big dollar cars a run for there money, and yes also promote our buisness, showing that we can produce somthing that no one has done before. I'm going to be doing as much as possible in-house.

Update, I spent some time yesterday to finish welding in the front wheel tubs. I still have a couple of sections to tidy up under the guards I should be able to finish off sometime this week. I'll try to upload some photos.

Small update, I have now sent my RB30 block off for machining, as my CP's arrived, rods, brearings and studs. I'm going to be using E85 so we are running a compression ratio of 9.0:1

I also recived the diff I ordered a while ago from the US, it's a Winters Quick Change IRS with Porsche 930 cv output shafts. I got it with 4.11:1 crown wheel and pinion and got a set of the quick change gears in 3.7:1 and 4.6:1 I will grab a few more ratios once I sort out my gearbox ratios.
Looking at the mounting points, it is a lot different shape to the 350z rear subframe i'm using, so will require a fair bit of fab to mount.

Also finished of the front wheel tubs, and primed.

I have made a little progress over the late couple of weeks, first is that finally my 4inch carbon flairs arrived from th US. They took awhile as the guy I was buying them from was trying te scam me. He would not answer emails once he had my money, anyway I put in a dispute in with paypal and BANG emailed back straight away and posted them next day. I'm happy they arrived and arnt too bad, but I need to mod them a bit as they are to suit a 240z and I want them to join into me side skirts and front bumper that i'm running.

I have dummied the flairs on, so I can now fininsh off the rear subframe and diff mounts now I know the overall width of the car.
The pic below is the narrowd subframe from when I was going to run 18x10 with no flairs, so now I have to widen it a fair bit more, wich works out good as it helps with the mounting of the new diff.
