Apologies for not posting anything of recent, have been flat out working and haven't had enough time to play Datto's. :(

I've finally got the second prototype in place, and it looks awesome.

1 problem that i have encountered with moving the stereo down below is that it now interferes with the lower dash structure. now i'm not a fan of cutting up the dash to make it fit, so have to get back to the drawing board to make it fit. will mean i need to lift the stereo up 10mm or so to clear the framework. once i've got this sorted, i'm going straight to tooling and then on for sale.

The panel where the gauges fit can be rotated 180 degrees to fit LHD as well, so the angle is maintained for each driving position, plus as you can see the gauges align well with the original cluster. the stereo tilts down a little, and i might even tilt it further to make it work (another 5 deg or so)

Have a look and let us know your thoughts

thanks everyone for your patience.
Cheers

A quick plug for Baz's datsport gauges and dash conversions.. http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=29401
A set of gauges will compliment the dash console very nicely!

Looks great! Have you thought of selling the panel for the gauges on it's own?

thanks dat16v,

Wasn't planning to, but if the numbers stacked up it could be done...

I definitely want the centre without gauges.

Gents,
Just to keep you all updated, haven't progressed with the console to date, family/business have been taking up my time. but i will be getting back onto it very soon.... a couple of adjustments will make allowances for a couple more options..
Beers.

Any updates on this?
And to save me from reading the whole thread, will this part have the factory texture?

Hi macdatty,

I was holding off on posting, but finally have production ready parts arriving to Melbourne late this week, and have been working on the new website to sell from. looking to have it up and running over the next couple of days.

I have gone down a different manufacturing path to further improve quality and as a result it wont have the factory texture off tool (was the only downside). however I am looking at a paint finish option that will give the factory texture look.. the finish will be matt black, and will post pics once the parts have arrived.
