Post subject:  Reducing my Track width on my 1600

Hi Guys,
I have a modified datsun 1600 i brought from Brisbane.

The issue i have is the engineer will not pass the car unless my track width is between 1290mm and 1315mm. It is currently 1330mm.

So i really need to find 10mm each side of wheel. I have a set of 17x7mm made for it and a set of 15x6. The offset on the 17x7 from the inside of the rim to the centre is 130mm and 120mm on the 15x6. When both set of wheels are on, the track width is 1330mm.

I need to find a set of wheel just to get it over the pits (in Canberra). Can any one help me find either a wheel that is either 15x5 or 15x6 with an off set of 130mm. It needs ok rubber so i can pass the pits at dickson.

This is the only item i need to get my baby on the road. I have looking for 3 months and am starting to run out of ideas and options. If any one could help, i would be very grateful.

Thanks John

John,

Grab a set of stock alloys from an R31 or a S13. They both have large negative offsets. There's a set up for sale on bmsc.com.au.

Otherwise I have a set for sale, but with circuit slicks on them. You could buy the rims and flog off the tyres. See the for sale sections.

Sorry, are you looking to buy or borrow some wheels?

Yeah the listing seems to have disappeared. The rally guys use them because they're as solid as they come.

Try ringing one of the import wreckers in Sydney, like justjap.

What kind of front end and struts are you running? I'm running R31 struts, and 200B front end, and I can run close to the factory 200B track which is from memory larger than the 1600. You can justify it to the engineer like that if you are running the right 'after market' parts.
