Hi all, here is the story of this dato-
9 years ago, i got my first car - 71 1600, my dad tought me how to paint,fix rust, weld, pull out and down L motors, reco L motors, supercharge, fit lpg, and do every thing you can to a 1600. i finished the car, and didnt have a licence yet so i sold the 16 so could buy a dirt bike - (i got $3800 for it 8 years ago)
about 6 months ago, i did a quick seach on flebay before work one morning and my old 16 came up! and it was just around the corner from my house! (i built and sold the 16 in melb, now im in traralgon) so that arvo, i went and ofered him $400 for it, and it was mine!!
Its got hi comp L18(full reco), crow cam, 240k g/box-struts, peders springs, good carperts, new black velour hood linning, and heap and heaps of other good bit i did to it, 9 years ago.
its now smashed up and a dog was living in it for ages!!
so the restoration begins.
i got another shell and a million spare parts with it.
ive already done a fair bit, but i wanted to share the resto with you all.
ive got some sik 15x8 0 offset rims, so im building the car around them

This is the colour - s13 ivory white
The old yellow was subaru evo 4 yellow - hence the black rims

ill find out for you tommorow, the fronts will take some work to fit under the gaurds but the back fit fine, ill put some 195/45 on them to get some nice stretch!

Those coilover kits are garbage I'm afraid to say dude. The spring hats are made of rubber, and the sleeves are aluminum.

The project is coming along great, looks like a great deal of work but you are smashing through it.

WHAAAAT??? rubber?? great, what will i do now? the alloy will still work wont it??

with the alloy collars i think they use some band to hold them on i used the hsd kit it cost $300 and has everything you need plus you can choose your spring rate and has steel collars to weld on

You can weld a seat underneath them for sleeves to sit on, they use only Allen key bolts otherwise to hold them on.

I think you'll be buying some 2nd hand spring hats off some s13 coil overs, if you look at the pic so you can see they are rubber, you'll obviously know when you get them In your hands.

Ill make some hats up my self, not hard. ill use them any way, its not for raceing, just for an every now and then, slamed,wide, cruiser!

You should be an artist drfita1600.

With a paint job like that you will be even more recognisable around Traralgon than in its original "incarnation", which I remember drew my attention! Might have to put your right foot in a plaster caste before venturing out!

But I like the idea of recognising the 1600's "heritage".
