A picture of the rear of the instrument would be good

If it is an impulse type tacho, the Green wire should do a single loop through a plastic former in the rear of the case.
Check for that first :)

Sorry to butt in, but I'm having trouble installing an aftermarket tacho into my 200B wagon. I've changed it to electronic ignition, with an HEC coil. It says to install the four wires to the following: one to the -ve battery terminal, one to the -ve terminal of the coil, one to a 12V supply when the car is turned on (fuse box), and one to the lights when turned on for night time (fuse box as well). I've hooked it all up, and it isn't working. It recommends putting in a fuse when in a points car, but since I changed it, I haven't bothered. Also, I set it correctly to the 4cyl as it recommended. Any ideas?
