Good old fashioned wishbone front end on these babies.

I'm just guessing with the above info, but looking towards the fairlady would be my starting place as there is heaps more info available on modifying them than there is on modifying 410 / 411's and they are very similar.

And by the way, nice looking little beast

struts from another datsun might fit?
I can 100% guarantee they won't.

411's don't have struts
awwwkwarrddd
 Easy mistake - the datsun's of the 410 / 411 / 310 / 311 era (mid-late 60's) really represent the end of one "era" of Datto development, the 1600's / etc that follow are a "new era" of sorts. They moved from drum brakes / wishbone suspension / solid axle / pushrod engine to disc / strut / IRS / OHC. Perhaps not that cut and dried, but the 510 is a big step from the 410 / 411.

i just tried registering to 311s.org but theres a question you have to answer which asks "what is this website all about?" i've put in like 5 different obvious answers but none are right!! hahaha fml

definitely will be taking your advice and looking through those channels first.

cheers

free j15 in QLD should cost 80 from using ego-com.au depo to depo

there was another for 50 or so from NSW if you do a search

J series are one of the best engine besides the H series,
total bullet proof and never do headgaskets like alloy headed
cast iron engines do.

so i have finally had a little bit of time to work on my goon, and finding more average workmanship!!!
so the whole engine was sprayed with the same colour as the body, which was noral acrylic! which has since then, with a little bit of heat started coming off, so i scraped it all of, n sprayed a little bit of engine enamel on it.
the first 2 pics are of the engine, needs a bit of wiring improvement, but will get to it soon

Hey guys!

so ive been away for about 8 months, and am finally coming home in a couple of days.. and need to get stuck back into the datto.
im after a CA18DET engine, 5sp gearbox, ECU, harness and all the bits if possible! and maybe a stock ECU, Harness and intake aswell.
just wondering if anyone can help me out?
i suspect that a CA18 will fit. i have been told an SR wont, so this is the next best thing. i got quoted 6-8grand for a guy to install an L20b and 5 speed.

thinking i might do it myself, but go with a CA18DET.

cheers guys!
shane

OKAY, SO ITS BEEN A WHILE IN BETWEEN PHOTOS!!

but we're starting to make progress again..

engine out.. notice the dodgey join in the brake hard line.. i have ripped out all hardlines, and re-ran them. i found quite a few shitty joins in the lines, and one in the clutch hardline.
[ img ]

started attacking the wiring, as the bloke before me did some (alot) of dodgey stuff.. went further than i expected, so i have a wiring loom from EZ wiring coming..
[ img ]

there was a repair job on my original sump. it had been split and welded back up, so my bro knocked this up in a few hours. still need to get a flap disc on to it to clean it up and paint it.
[ img ]

i hated the look of the old exhaust and inlet manifold, so i went nuts....

cheers

Can't agree more, bought my first pair of flap discs last weekend (40 and 120 grit), don't know how I ever survived without them.
