rubber necks all round with this wagon hopefully very few whiplash victims ;)

really well done on a lovely build, rubbers try a thailand place on ebay or another mob down here in melbourne
sorry but cant remember the links maybe someone else can help?

heres some nice wagons also prob already seen them
http://kyushakai.wordpress.com/tag/411/

Brakes you probably should try Ratsun site in the states probably 720 ute or even if you can source them
1600 sss 411 uprights then at least you can put later discs and calipers on an jb1117 master cyl no need
for booster but anything around that size 17.45 or so for MC is good.

heres the ratsun member effort for disc brakes

Hey d,

yeah i have looked at doing a disc conversion, and will tackle it in the future. its a fair bit of work, so my thoughts are, trying to make it stop well by re-conditioning all parts(all done) and a booster for the moment, while i gather all parts etc necessary to do the conversion, as the goon will be my daily driver (i dont drive that much) so i cant have it off the road for very long.

i've looked on ebay, i have found a new front windscreen rubber, and glass runners and thats about it! will keep on hunting, but no luck so far!

on the link you sent me to those 411's, what is that big red thing hanging off the side of the red goon??

Cheers Dave and d!

air con ;) yesteryear and now rat style

With the drums yeah its hard work to get them to do thing in parallel at least not many tram tracks there like here when it gets wet drums brakes dont do well at all.

I remember playing with the 411 h165 sedan diff and clearly the WCylinders and pretty much all of it matches the same diameter of the bluebird 80s series and 240/260z alloy drums go right on top of them. So see if you can use some alloy finned Z drums front and back and if you have the time check out the drums on the last bluebirds for spares.

Maybe the alloy drums dont just look better and are lighter but will suffer less under heavy breaking due to better heat dissipation.

Hi my dad used to rally in the 60's a 1300 r411 which was called a datsun 1300ss.He then had a r411 1600 which was called a 1600sss. This was the first time sss was used.
They all had floor shift boxs. Look at my sons blog "http://dattosankureiji.wordpress.com" i think. Look up Jared van Bergen in google and the correct site will be there. There is even a photo of my dad in the MONTE CARLO rally with a datsun R411!

yeah im upgrading from a 10 year old, luxury, big V8 sedan... to a 50 year old, 1600cc wagon!! and im soo happy about it! need air cond?? open a window!! haha

ok cool, thanks for the heads up with the bluebird and z spares. i will have a measure when i get home from work in a few weeks. i hope there's something i can do to make them stop a bit better!! otherwise, i will just have to bite the bullet and tackle a disc upgrade :/

someone I remember also adapted either a15 nissan vanette or toyota km20 liteace disc and calipers using a commonho caliper bracket plate of some sort or r31, both van models have the same stud pattern 114.3mm x 4 & similar uprights

It was at a workshop I ventured, the owner was an old dude and had a tray ute in beige with milk tea/tan interior, It was quite sometime back but Im sure the Ratsun site should have more posts from other conversions besides the one I posted.

If I was your way Id get this in a blink for 300 quid
http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/mclaren- ... 4?mpch=ads

perfect with a steam clean some chassis paint, por15 on floor repaint with the same green using aerosol can in matching colour and get that z18et happening and another disc brake conversion :)

hey d,

yeah I had seen that ute!! a bit too much work for me at the moment tho... don't have any room to store another car, and don't really have the time or the money to put into it to get it to the point of being able to pass engineers etc. would be a nice ute tho!!

the only real conversion I have seen, is one dude was making mounting brackets for some calipers, a few things needed machining etc, but seemed relatively easy.

I wish there was a straight forward way!! ahhaa.. I will be going to u-pull-it when I get home from work and will try n drag a few things home to try out.

SP311 gear/suspension looks almost identical to 410/411 stuff. That is the best place to look for a disc brake upgrade that is most likely bolt on and easy.

Might be worth sending an enquiry to this guy -> http://spriso.com/content/products/brak ... ion-parts/

Also do you have any recent pics of your car on the road? Need some inspiration.
