I have soaked the hinges (1600) in crc/WD stuff for a few days now and the pins are still stuck in. I try hitting them with a hammer and punch thing with no luck. even tried freezing one to see if that would shrink the pin.

anyone with tips or tricks i could try please? I am getting frustrated

Make sure you are trying to move them in the right direction.
One end is fluted to grip the hinge, that is the end to drive in.....I think.

that would be embarassing wouldnt it!

thinking back I may have had the hinges zinc plated (the yellowy gold stuff) many years ago and I didnt take them apart.

maybe thats my trouble.

I have sucess in one though which came apart fairly easily. just some stubborn buggers.

might have to acid dip them?

perhaps try a bit of heat to expand the surrounding metal?
Also pressing them out might work better?

I thought heat would expand the hinge creating more squeeze on the pin?

anyway I am about to try and press one out. all I have is a little bench vice but must try it...

Go down to your local mechanic who should have a hydraulic press. Ask them to press them out for you. (taking note of the correct direction as mentioned previously)

ok I managed to squeeze one out this morning with great relief!

so I will be using the vice for the rest of them.

totally rusted and still had to hammer it in the end but the vice lossend/unlocked it sort of thing.

will do the same for the rest and I think I'll make new stainless pins with circlips top and bottom to keep it all together.

Should have taken Trav's advice.
Pins are only half your problem...and if you drove that first pin in the wrong direction....no standard pin will locate properly now.
Sadly old mate Nissanman has it ass-about....the spline end is NOT the one to hit....and I mean HIT.....special fixture, special drift.
I assume you've started with the upper hinges.........you ain't seen nothin' yet....lowers are a whole new ball game....frozen solid. worn links, worn bushes, stuffed rivets, removing springs....or missing springs....
Baz puts it so well...

well there was no drama really in the end as the pressing out worked very well!

this is what I came up with, which is no were near as good looking as yours midlife. but it has brass bushes and a free floating stainless pin with circlips top and bottom to keep it there. bit of grease and, oh my god, the door glides open and closed beautifully...
