been threatening to pull the engine and gear box to do the clutch and + wiring for the new ecu. so thought it would be a good idea to comp test it while it still had a starter motor and found this.
hopefully its just a blown gasket. :impatient:

You are right handed right? looks like some serious work done. Mine is on the shoulder so will see.

I like the idea of an injected A series, can only wonder how much better they must be than carbed

if you work with your hands D you should do it and yep right handed :giggle:
so i pulled the engine out to do the clutch and head gasket and to my surprise no piston or head damage :D but the bores are looking a bit sad so off to the machine shop for an over bore and balance. i also had a cracked ring on no:1.

you can see the soot marks going right into the coolant galleries.

not much to update, no time at the moment because of renovating but have had my engine and fly wheel machined and balanced :D i have reassembled the bottom end and cant wait to get it back in  i ended up going with a sprung button clutch because i don't want to be puling this out again, and have been promised they not as bad as i remember (might have been a solid button)

Its an exedy, Graham from Wilkins Engineering sourced it for me when he did the machining. he did say with the power it will be putting down i should be looking for a 720 flywheel but i will see how i go with this one.
