This car was previously registered in WA with the L28 (whether the L28 was recorded on the rego papers I don't know), but going from an L23 (2.3 litre) to a L28 (2.8 litre) shouldn't be an issue. Usually its just a case of filling out a change of engine number form so they have it on record with the new engine.

So I just got back to WA from Qld, got straight into the garage and fitted a 34/34 weber off an XF falcon, the six is going way better know has heaps more pickup and idles like a dream, just need to find an air cleaner that looks sorta standard, washer bottle fitted, fuel pump wired in, all it needs now is battery, horns fixed and the internal heater core fitted... Then down to get it inspected :)

So today I'm getting some white walls done on the six, found a new set of hub caps yesterday, just need to find an air cleaner for the weber and get the horn working, then it'll be hitting the pits, ohhh and got some cool display items for the parcel tray.

That's a really nice looking car you've got there.

Well done.

i love this car, the first time i saw one was when i was 16, it was on the top of a pile of cars ready to be crushed! it was a sad moment, i felt like you do when you wanna save and animal from being put down! i wish i could of saved it!

lol cancel that!! since getting the old girl on the road last week, my mind has been changed, drives like a dream, smoothest datsun i have ever drove... on inspection for road worthy here in wa, the guy found it a mission to get any info on the 2300, he got the L28 pasted with out needing it engineered even though it was more then 20% but he some how convinced the transport guy on the otgher end of the road that it was not a performance swap but a standard replacement.... long story short it passed first go, as well as my bosses 200B Aspen that we took in for inspection the same day....

I'm also glad you've kept it, mate.

I bought one needing love last year and now I've just had it shipped over from Tassie to join me here in Adelaide. The L23 has to be redone, I reckon, so I'm gonna try find a running engine to put in it while I work on that. There's an L24E going cheap on gumtree. Do you know what I need to get that in there? Or should I look for carby one elsewhere?

I'm new to this, but I plan to give her a new lease on life, respecting her original beauty.
